Mineral Wells Approves Rezoning for Commercial Development
The City Council considered and approved an ordinance to rezone three properties located at 706 Northwest 2nd Avenue, 605 Northwest 2nd Avenue, and 302 Northwest 5th Street. The properties were rezoned from Single Family 6 Residential (SF6) to District C Commercial. The purpose of the rezoning is to allow for the construction of a wellhouse, storage, and a parking lot to serve surrounding businesses. The Planning and Zoning Commission had unanimously approved the rezoning, and no objections were received from residents within a 200-foot radius. The proposed zoning is considered consistent with surrounding development and compatible with adjacent commercially zoned property.

The City Council recognized July as Parks and Recreation Month. Mineral Wells Extends Mill South Water Supply Contract by 30 Days
The City Council authorized the city manager to execute a 30-day amendment to extend the current Mill South Water Supply Wholesale Water Contract. This extension is intended to allow more time for negotiations to be finalized. The contract will continue under the same terms and conditions during this extension period. The motion to approve the amendment passed with a 6-0 vote.
Mineral Wells Police Department Welcomes New Officer and Kennel Tech
The Police Chief announced two new employees: Officer Jeremy Martin and part-time Kennel Tech Katiana Steivers ('Tana'). Officer Martin graduated from Weatherford College Police Academy, has 16 years of marriage, three children, and prior experience in marketing, ministry, and construction. He is interested in the K-9 program. Katiana Steivers brings 10 years of customer service experience, loves animals, and aims to help shelter animals find homes. She is described as having a bubbly personality and bringing good energy to the animal shelter. Both new hires were welcomed by the council.
