Activities include football, volleyball, a kids' zone, yoga, tug-of-war, and a food and beverage court. The Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova, Anton Lungu, expressed gratitude and hope for the event to become a yearly tradition, fostering community consolidation and cultural exchange.
Plainfield Police Department to Acquire New UTV to Enhance Emergency Response
The Plainfield Police Department requested approval to purchase a new Polaris utility vehicle (UTV) for $32,048. This new UTV will enhance emergency response capabilities, including search and rescue and disaster response. The department's current UTV will be transferred to the Plainfield Fire Department (PIMA) to maximize its useful life. The funds for this purchase are budgeted under the Police Department's Capital Improvement Fund. The price quoted is for the vehicle itself, and additional costs for lighting and markings will be covered by the seizure fund.
Sidewalk Trip Hazard Removal Program Contract Extended for 2026 Season
The board approved extending the sidewalk trip hazard removal program contract with Universal Concrete Grinding for the 2026 construction season. The contract extension is for $48,010, with a $4,800 contingency, making the total not to exceed $52,810. This program involves grinding down damaged concrete sidewalks that present trip hazards, which can be a temporary or permanent repair. The extension is based on the Consumer Price Index. A trustee suggested considering mandatory 'dovetailing' for future sidewalk replacements to reduce future trip hazards.
Board Approves $708,970 Contract for Well Rehabilitation
The board considered and approved the rehabilitation of wells 6 and 7 for a total cost not to exceed $708,970. These wells are part of the village's previous groundwater system and are maintained as a backup to the primary Lake Michigan water source. The project was put out for public bid, and after the lowest bidder withdrew due to a mistake, Water Well Solutions LLC became the lowest responsible bidder. The engineer's estimate was higher than the winning bid, and the village will use this data to refine future estimates.
