City to Repay Comptroller Over $115,000 for Misallocated Taxes
The council approved a motion to make a one-time lump sum repayment of $115,934.60 to the Texas Comptroller for taxes that were mistakenly paid to the city instead of where the work was performed. This repayment will be deducted from the city's next sales tax payment, with the Comptroller withholding the amount from the August payment. This situation arises periodically due to businesses not filing separate tax forms for different work locations.
Car Wash on Baker Lane Approved for Self-Service Use
The council considered a specific use permit request to allow for a car wash, self-service or full-service, in the light commercial C1 district at 100 Baker Lane. The existing facility, which has been vacant for over a year, will have its enclosed automatic tunnel converted into a self-served bay, resulting in two self-served bays. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval 5-0. The council subsequently approved the ordinance.
City Council Establishes 'Limited Use' Zoning Category for Residential in Commercial Districts

This new category allows single-family homes and duplexes to exist within commercial zoning districts (RO, C1, C2) under specific stipulations, particularly for existing residential buildings that have been vacant for over a year.
