St. John Welcomes New Police Officer Josette Quiroga
The Town Council officially swore in Josette Quiroga as a new police officer for the St. John Police Department. Chief Flores expressed gratitude for the council's approval, citing the town's growth and increased demands on the police force. Officer Quiroga brings nearly 7 years of experience from the Schererville Police Department, where she served as an evidence tech, crisis intervention officer, field training officer, and defensive tactics instructor.
Town Official Addresses Resident Concerns Over Traffic Congestion and INDOT Delays
During the reports and correspondence section, Clerk-Treasurer Chris discussed community difficulties with traffic navigation due to the Joliet Street closure and the roundabout at 231. She clarified that the town has no control over INDOT's timelines for intersection improvements, noting that the roundabout at Cline and 231 is two years behind schedule. She emphasized that St. John's own projects are on track and that the state's delays contribute to current traffic congestion issues.
